I think mine took close to 2 hours. He said it was the worst one he'd seen in several years... I had waited almost 7 years before I had the surgery.

The day of the surgery, I was so doped up I probably could have gone jet skiing.

Day 2, when the nerve block wore off, holy sweet Mary mother of God! I was dying. I had to pee so bad, but I literally couldn't get out of bed. Even with someone pulling me up, it hurt too bad to bend at the waist.

Day 3-7, could get out of bed to pee, but walking more than a few feet kicked my ass.

Hobbled around all during week 2... still struggled.

I wasn't 100% until 6 weeks.

It is not fun to let it wait. If you had asked me if it was worth it 2 weeks after I would have said hell no, absolutely not... ask me now, and it's the best decision I ever made and should have never waited so long.

I had a bilateral inguinal hernia btw...

Default Hernia!!!!

I seen some lawyer commercial about this. Do Not let them do the vaginal mesh on you. It can slip!! - BUT- you may be entitled to a large sum of money

I will say that you better hope you can get yours done laproscopically, by the sounds of it, you should... mine was too big and they had to fillet me open like a trout.

Plan on being off work for a week... I was out for 2 before I could do much of anything.

Good luck! I feel like a million bucks after mine.
My referral is to the Surgery Group there in Pensacola. I live out here in Navarre and he gave me the option to go east or west. I didn't want to go to Ft. Walton, so he gave me the referral to the Surgery Group.

Mine is small and will probably not need the mesh and only need to be stitched up at this point and said it should not be too much pain afterwards. But this is just my general doc talking. Maybe the surgeon will have more details about the operation. Mine is only about a dime sized hole right now right a the top of my belly button.

We'll see.

I'm not a surgeon, but I'd imagine you'll be 100% in 2 weeks at the most...

Mine looked like I was trying to smuggle a softball in my shorts... lol.

Mine was about the same as your I guess, but even if it doesn't require mesh ask if they'll do it. My wife's coworkers husband was on his third in a year
The same month I did mine the first two they tried to stitch but it didn't work so they did mesh the third time and it's worked like a charm. I also wasn't helped since they accidentally wrote wrong prescriptions when I left and I was stuck with 1/4 strength pain meds for the first 2 or 3 days. The doc eeven answered my wife's call when she called at midnight the second or third day to ask about the meds and imedsitely called in new scripts the morning, and it's not positive if it was discharge or pharmacy issue on my meds but it was the worst few days in my life!

Yeah my doc said the ones that are down lower around the groin area are worse than where mine is at the top of my belly button! So I'm hoping for an easy fix. I have a desk job. So I should be able to get back pretty soon! That's the plan and hope anyway!

Caluda did my inguinal hernia several years ago. He did it laproscopically. Lined my lower belly with mesh and little coils of wire. I made the mistake of watching a really funny movie that night. Hurt like hell.

So I was wrong all those years in thinking that those Navy flight surgeons were queer and just wanted to play with my balls. Apparently, turn-your-head-and-cough is a real thing.

My X-ray looks like I got shot in the belly with bird shot.

Not trying to hijack, but if anyone has a bum hip and is considering hip replacement surgery, you should check into hip resurfacing. I had my left hip resurfaced when I was 46 (six years ago) and chose the Birmingham hip. The femural stem remains intact and basically the cartilage is replaced on the ball and socket. This type allows you to remain physically active. After my rehab, I was truly born again hard!
