Default help guys. mechanical question

chevy 305. stock everything except headers. number 3 cylender(spelling) is missing. not even firing on the plug. but the plug is sparking. we have changed the plug wires. distributor cap. new plugs. what could be causing this miss. also we did a compression check and it looks good. so the valves are fine. whats going on with this motor.

Try swapping a plug wire... And plug... Just because it is showing a spark don't mean it is hot enuff...

could be junk or chip on #3 post inside cap and rotor causing wrong gap there...

Collapsed lifter or bent push rod not opening valve enuff, long enuff to draw in adequate fuel/air charge.

Carb, TBI or rail injected? If rail injected, possible faulty injector.

I'd guess at plug or the wire. If you put new headers on it, you might have cracked the plug. The plug could work outside the cylinder, but when inside the cylinder under compression the spark may be finding an easier path. Headers can also lead to early death of plug wires if not routed correctly.

Like mentioned before, swap components from another cylinder and see if the problem moves.

swapped all the plugs and wires. not an electrical problem. we gonna pull the heads today and see if it has a bent valve or something.
