I have absolutely enjoyed every story I've read on this thread. Some are heartbreaking, but some are heartwarming. Isn't it amazing how much influence a dad can have.

My mom's exact words to me were "I f you ever think you're going to hit me you had better kill me because if you try I WILL kill YOU". I believed her. She was a very highly regarded nurse for decades at SHH. Everybody loved her. Very compassionate, loving, just an amazing woman. However, she was well know for standing up to BS. She, my step dad and step brother and I went to El Palacio one night for a nice dinner. Afterwords we walked back to te lounge and had a drink. Step bro and I stayed busy checking out the cuties by the door while our parents sat at the bar chatting. Two younger drunk chicks came in and started picking on mom. Mom told them several times to go away. Finally one of them reached over and grabbed mom by the hair and tried to yank her off the bar stool. Only thing bro and I knew was suddenly tables were getting knocked over and there was some fur ball spinning around the bar. When the bar tender and bouncer got it broken up both girls looked like they were hit by a bus, blood, torn clothes, make up messed up, hair in a rats nest. Mom looked like she had just walked off a modeling stage, no scratches, clothes perfect, hair and makeup fresh. The bouncers kicked the girls out of the bar, we were allowed to stay. Mom got back on the stool and never mentioned it again. The bouncer told me he wouldn't want to tangle with mom. "Damn, that sweet little lady is one vicious bitch when she gets cornered". Yes, yes she is. Don't k ow where she learned it, must have had something to do with growing up in the sticks on top of a mountain in Tennessee. True story. Boat-Dude likes this.
