Default Has anyone been to Australia?

First of all I am in college majoring in Global Marketing and have to complete a semester abroad in order to be granted my degree. I have chosen to do my semester abroad in Feb 2012 in Gold Coast, Australia. What I was wondering was if anyone else had been to Australia or the Gold Coast. Recommendations of what to check out while there? I'd like to check out the safaris and DEF. gonna dive the Great Barrier Reef. God I can't wait! What else should I check out while I'm over there. I'll be there for just shy of 6 months.

I've been to Sydney and Cairns within the last 8 years. Sydney's OK if you like city's people were great! We also drove up the coast to a couple of fishing ports then inland to the blue mountains, awesome view, looks like a green grand canyon.
Cairns is a resort area next to a rain-forest which borders the Great Barrier Reef and very easy access..that was a great trip!
Check out my pics of the trips at link below.

I have been there.

You are going in the fall and and winter.

What is DEF? What safaris?

Look at this before you go.

See these two movies to learn the language.

Thanks for the clarification.

I watched and admired a fish in both fresh and salt water in Queensland called a barramundi. It was in November, which is spring over there.

They were about 40 pound fish, and they were fast, very aggressive small-school surface feeders, like our jack crevalles. I didn't get a chance to fish for them.

I bet they bite in cool weather.

I've been to Freemantle and Perth, other than that area, I couldn't help ya. My son did call me at 3 am our time to taunt me when he had just finished diving on the Great Barrier Reef though, I was definately envious.
