Default gulf breeze police car...

2 days ago (monday) i was coming home from work, it was around 4 pm, traffic wasn't too bad... i was driving through GB proper heading towards midway.... as i approached the intersection at the hospital i had a GB police car whip out in front of... i locked up the breaks and still almost ran in the back of it (i was only doing 35mph, they pulled into traffic, but didn't hardly excelerate)... well, i've been cut off before, but never by a police car... they proceeded to do 30 mph until we got into the national seashore, where the car sped up to a bone-crushing 40 mph... well, i finally decided to pass them, as i got alongside of them, i looked over and the car was being piloted by to senior citizens, i mean OLD FOLKS...

can someone tell me why GBPD has 2 older colks driving a squad car around GB???

and possibly get their vision checked so they don't pull out in front of another car one day...

thanks.

I believe GB was soliciting residents to drive the cars around to keep people from speeding. Seems they had too many cars and not enough LEO's. I guess old folks are the oly ones with that much time to waste...talk about BORING.

That sounds REALLY dangerous. Whats going to happen when a citizen patrol cars drives up on some strung out crack head that's eye balling your copper A/C unit and starts using that car for target practice..... GGGGHHHHHEEEEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

The Old Folks are strictly volunteer and have no LE duties. They can assist with traffic control at an accident, but not much else. This is according to the report by Ch 3 a few years ago when GB started the program.

Dang, I can't believe the county would do that with the understood liability.

Agreed. The positive side of this is as was mentioned in the original post, if they cause the accident by careless driving, they can regulate traffic until the ambulance arrives..... Actually I was just joking, but it does seem like a dangerous situation.
