Screwed again, we. The youger gen 40 or so should get our money back. Madoff was jailed because of a ponzi scheme our s.s. is the best ponzi scheme to date. Ponzi scheme ie taking ones money banking the interest and paying someone else with it. In my case I am like one of madoffs investors

I really get sick of hearing the government talk about Social Security like it's an entitlement. I paid into it. If they want to give me all my money back plus interest over the last 43 years, we'll call it even.......and I will retire.

Well said. I get the fact that it won't be there for me in 25 years when I retire, but STOP TAKING IT FROM ME.

That's the problem. If we stop paying then there would be no money to pay the current retirees. It wouldn't be right to deny them the money they were promised their whole working lives while they were paying into the system.

If I retire at the "normal retirement age" of 66.67, I will have to live until I am 99 years old to get back what I have paid into SS.

And that is based only on what I paid in, zero interest, zero compounding, etc. on that money.

The problem is that if the money paid into SS was invested properly, there would be enough to pay for the retirees, Instead they kept barrowing from it to pay for other programs. There were "IOU"s issued for the barrowing . Tell me that 10 million of 1980 dollars is worth 10 million today. If you pay for something, why is it an entitlement??

There are also rampant abuses such as people getting SS Disability.
Which I bet is a bigger draw down of SS than retirees.

I know this is a bit off topic but auto insurance is also a scheme in my opinion. I'm forced to pay it by the state. If I never get in an accident then to me it's just wasted money. The state or insurance companies should be forced to pay me back or simply say you've payed in 25k or whatever amount seems fit you don't have to pay anymore.

It truly seems like they are getting over on all of us. I'm no expert on this stuff it just seems like they are taking my money for nothing.
