Default Geotagging

Be careful about putting pictures on line...

http://witnessthis.wordpress.com/201...nline-privacy/

I'm NOT a computer guy, but I did a couple google searches and was able to find FREE software that can tell me where SOME photos were taken.

I've played around on this site and any picture attached using the uploader is wiped of geotagging information, But I've been able to find the lat/long of "tiger stadium" in auburn from one of those BIG pictures that people somehow upload and the picture screws up the page size.

Also found information on facebook photographs.

Most smartphones have the GPS information embedded in the "metadata" in a photograph. If it's downloaded to a computer it stays with the picture. You can disable this and you really should unless there is a reason to leave it on for a specific picture.

Again, I have not been able to find any data from uploaded pics on this site UNLESS you do that weird thing and somehow get the extra large pictures on here.

I think you use the mountain icon and insert url to do that.

Protect your kids and disable it on their smartphone's camera.

....unless you routinely take pictures while at your private, mature, scamp laden reef..... for those pictures, keep all metadata features active and just email them to me & jim. We'll remove the metadata for you free of charge

Did you check the video on this site, too? I have a video camera that embeds the GPS data in the video.

I was able to save youtube videos and there is a lot of data there. I tried a few, did not see any GPS data, but the cameras may not have GPS capabilities. One was a GoPro video.

If you have posted one somewhere that had GPS enabled shoot me a pm with a link and I can look or post one here if you like.

Hmmm? Maybe I can find a video from Olive Dell Ranch in Southern California.
