I don't know where to start here. First thing that comes to mind about the choice to either walk through a machine and then walk right onto the plane without having to stop and take off my shoes, belt, ect... I think is awesome and don't understand why anyone besides someone with something to hide would care either or even better prefer it. So some person sees a outline of your body , whopdi Doo !!!! So what ? Why is this a deal at all much less a big deal ? We all know the detonation room would be the best way to hadle it which is why it would never happen but that being the case, making it faster and more reliable then just the metal detector seems to be a great idea and I don't have a problem with any family member of any age walking through one.

Now the guy that does not eat out of a microwave or off nonstick pans and so forth, I don't even know what to say about that but, how the Hell do you even live? You definitley worry too much about a bunch of crap that has nothing to do with when your gonna die or how you feel, but Damn, Are you a Vegan as well?

As far as the Van goes, I think it has many good places to be put in service but would not want it used to make criminals out of non criminals . Put them in high risk areas and as needed. It could save some lives.

Keep in mind that I don't know what the person sees when you walk through one of the full body scans and I don't care as long as I get cleared without getting a finger up my ass I'm good, then again I have never been shy and quite often find myself naked in front of people, so to each thier own I guess but I don't think it's a invasion of privacy.

I really don't care to much about the image for myself. I do care about it for my wife, and if I had children, them also. What I do care a great deal about is the invasion of privacy and the radiation effects.

another reason not to have it.

I can understand the you have an option by not flying, but damn, not flying ? How soon till this hits other modes of transportation ?

Take a bus, drive your POV ?

Well, sooner or later, they will regulate and oppress your freedoms there too !

Well, you don't have to drive, so I'll ride a bike, till they regulate the shit out of that, so I'll just walk.....When does it stop....it's a slippery sloop, and it needs to stop now !

Enough is enough already !

"Oh God, I can't even imagine!

I would be oh so devastated if a fuzzy white outline of my body showed up to the internet! I don't know how I'd go on. Everybody at work would call me names like "white fuzzy guy," or "phantom-like blur," and I just don't think I could take it.

Even worse... what if the government used that blurry white outline to blackmail me!!??! The fear of having all my friends find out that, when observed by a TSA scanner, my body appears as a hardly-distinguishable cloud of white mist, would doubtlessly drive me into submission!"

i like that one.. those scans dont make out anything remotely close to feel embarrassed about.

Default Here's am example

Here is an example of what the machines are capable of. The sales pitch video in the first post even shows how close to this that machine is and it is a portable one.

If we just make everyone fly naked, i guess then we won't have to worry about it. (Wow, can you imagine some of the sights then.....)

I think the point is, that everything that the government promises seems to have effects and goes contrary too what is advertised. The fuzzy white images refered to above, never should have been saved to begin with...the government swears up and down that the machines can do it, but yet there they are.

And, those images are not nearly as clear as what the machines are capable of, as evidenced in the vidoe by the OP, and by what I have seen first hand while at airports. Not all airports place their security screeners monitors in a position so that they can only be viewed by the inspector. I have travelled out of PNS, DFW, BWI, BOS, ATL, ORD, DCA and IAD in the last several years, and can tell you in more than one of those locations I have had full view of the inspecctors side of the monitor, all from a point where I was legally standing, and doing nothing out of the ordinary.

Further more, it's not that this particular scan is a bad thing, I certainly want to be safe and secure in my, and my fellow citizens flying...but what is next. As soon as this becomes accceptable, what is next ? how far will things be taken.

I also do not think that it is too much to think that a person should reasonably be able to travel about our country in the pursuit of happiness with out being gropped and ogled by people or computers.

It's a slippery sloop, and we are already half way down it.

Few things to consider:

How do other countries, more prone to terrorism than us, cope with these issues?

Do you think a plane will be bombed again. If so, how many bombs detonated on planes are we willing to accept each year?

Here's my rant on these questions. Other countries profile. We have decided in our country that a preponderance of evidence cannot be used against terrorism.

I do believe we will be bombed again and my tolerance is zero (0).

Given only profiling and scanning as our current alternatives, I'm going with profiling. Choose your poison.

PS, profiling has been around for a long time:
"Then said they unto him, Say now Shibboleth: and he said Sibboleth: for he could not frame to pronounce it right. Then they took him, and slew him at the passages of Jordan: and there fell at that time of the Ephraimites forty and two thousand."
