Default Flags at Half-Staff....Again

Driving home from work I noticed that once again the flags are at half-staff and it occurred to me that I can't remember the last time I saw them flying high at the top of he pole. I know it's a symbolic gesture and that right now it's because of the events in California, but it just seems to me that it is being over used. I is meant to symbolize national morning and it use to be that it was reserved for when a president or other notable public figure died or when there had been a national tragedy on the scale of 9/11 or Pearl Harbor.

I'm not trying to diminish the tragedy that is a bunch of jihadist killing 14 people on our own soil, but lowering the symbol of our nation in response seems to indicate that if you succeed in getting in a good punch, we are just gonna tear-up and need a big ol' group hug.

The initial Whitehouse order for flags at halfmast was not solely to mourn the Cali terror victims but rather to mourn all victims of workplace violence. Now this may have changed in light of current revelations but that was the initial order.

While workplace violence is abhorrent and a tragedy by any measure, the president is clearly trying to use this incident to further his anti-gun agenda.

Oh yeah - the Obama admin has still not said this is Islamic Terrorism or a terrorist attack - go figure.

Due to persistent global warming and workplace violence, flags will be flown at half mast for the rest of Obamas presidency.
