Default dolphin sightings

It's the Missourian again! Once again, we are visiting for spring break and would like to watch dolphins without going out on a dolphin cruise. Any suggestions on where to go (i.e. certain bays) and what times is best to see them?

Thanks!!

I have seen them really thick at the beach side of Bob Sikes bridge and when the surf is flat out around the second sand bar on the gulf side. I have had the best luck really early in the morning. Last Sat. I saw several on the Gulf side. Some were as close as the first sand bar, and I saw one literally sky out of the water. It was amazing!! My son said, "dad its awesome to live here, this close to dolphins!". Hope you see a few!

Thanks!! Helps a lot. And you are lucky to live there - can't wait to get back and visit the gulf. We have traveled down every spring break and a week in August for the last 3 years but due to the oil spill we went to Myrtle Beach this last summer and I tell ya, nothing is as pretty and relaxing as the Gulf. Finally going to feel like we are at home when we get back down there.

Amazingly,

Ran to the edge and back yesterday and did not see one Dolphin.

Even when throwing those nasty, over-fished, pain-in-the-butt, red things back into the water.

That was a first.

If you have a boat they tend to hang out just south of Sherman Cove on the west end of "Navy Cut".

Drive to Ft. Pickens and walk to the pass. Incredible walk and usually a few dolphins.
