I was kind of disappointed when I moved here a few months back and found I couldn't take my dogs to the beach.

Fleas are not why dogs are not allowed on beaches. There was a policeman who was quoted by the PNJ saying that fleas were the problem, but the reason is Ascaris worms. The parasite is rare in dogs that are well taken of and not easy for us to get. I have seen them in puppies that are adopted but they are easy to recognize and get rid of with meds. Humans have to ingest the eggs to be infected. The problem is that the eggs are viable for a long time in sand.

I walk my dog regulary between Polyneasean Ilse and Garcon Bridge in Gulf Breeze. Included in that stretch is Redfish Point. It's a very scenic walk but you'll encounter many roots and obstacles.
