Default Crystal River Manatee Update

Hey guys, I know a bunch of ya'll are heading over there in a few days and I figured I would give everyone an update. I took the family down to Crystal river for the past few days(Bananatom the fastest way is I-10 to 19) to swim with the manatees. The good news is the weather is awesome, very warm...the bad news is weather is awesome very warm. Almost all the manatees have moved down river, we were able to find 3 in kings bay on Monday and 4 on tuesday, a far cry from the hundreds that were there a couple of weeks ago. It was still a great experience but not the same that clay-doh had last trip. Anyway hope yall have a great time, might have to hunt around a bit to find a few.

hit the springs across from ale house, and do some drifting in kings bay, i am sure you will find em. watch for snouts and tail swirls. Take some topwaters and flukes for the am/pm redfish bite around the grass banks. have fun gents, great place.

Thanks Flyboy,
Did you guys rent a pontoon boat, bring your own, or go on a guided tour?

And yes we have a few going, 23 souls.

Yes we went up to 3 sisters, 1 manatee and 5 tour boats with about 100 swimmers chasing it. The few we found were near the little islands out in kings bay, near an underwater cavern where the tourist boats were taking some scuba divers(can't remember the name of the cavern) also we saw a few in the off limits manatee zones. We rented a pontoon boat, we had a lot of fun, but wasn't the experience I was hoping for, next time we will go earlier in the year...the colder the better is what the locals say. Even if the manatees dont cooperate I know ya'll will have a great time!

Last year we went to Kings Bay and Homosassa River near the state park and saw a lot of them but it was colder weather. We also did an early morning run.

Heck, we saw 12+ in July in Kings Bay by the little islands alone.
