As the weather warms the manatees head out into the Gulf. I usually go around Christmas. It is a great place to visit with kids. There are manatee trips that are reasonable. I also like to canoe/kayak Homossassa Springs to see the manatees. There is also a good museum for the family there and close to Crystal River. Enjoy!

I grew up just up the road from their. It's a great place to have a boat, very fishy. Study the charts though, fishing in the gulf there is way different than it is in the panhandle.
