Default This is crazy, but anyone with a heart for Crippled Squirrels?

My wife found an injured squirrel in our yard several months ago, seemed it had somehow been paralyzed from the shoulders down. Being animal people, we set it up in a modified dog kennel to see if it would either die or get better. well, it seems to have adapted and other than not being able to use half his body, is doing just fine. We realize we cant keep him forever and would love if someone out there wanted an interesting pet. We feed him squirrel food, apples, vegies, a mix of things, and he drinks from a water bottle just fine. He will eat from your hand and doesnt care about our dogs and the cat checking him out through the cage. I named him flip-flop, since for a while that was all he could do! He needs a better habitat than what we have space for. we bathe him every now and then with pet shampoo since hes in a small enclosure, and the toothbrush is just for him to bite... call/text us at 85O-232-O965, thanks.

Please calll the Emerald Coast Wildife Refuge at 850-650-1880 ASAP. The will be happy to take him in and provide veterinary care. Squirrels, especially juveniles require a specific diet, and are more difficult to raise to healthy adults than most people think. (Not to mention it is illegal to take one from the wild to keep as a pet.)

cool, i'll give them a call. but realistically, i doubt anyone has ever had legal troubles over a squirrel. i trapped animals for quite a while and even the wildlife centers' workers tell of friends or family or themselves that have pet everythings. there are animal people all over this area and im putting this out there for just that reason.
