Face to face with craigslist or it's no go. 99.9% of the requests to ship an item on craigslist are scams. Selling or buying.

y'all don't forget about the sellers on this fishing forum, too.
some of them are not trustworthy.
i told this guy i would send him a check for the merchandise and he was supposed to look up the shipping costs. tried to contact him several times.
sold it to somebody else. it's just in my morals that if i told you i would sell it to you, i'd damn sure sell it to you and not somebody else. is that $0.02 worth?

On the flip side, I have had 3 different "buyers" on here tell me they wanted what I was selling and drug it out for two weeks or even longer before they stopped communicating. I have come to the conclusion that if somebody is truly going to complete a deal, they will do so within a day or two. From now on, anything that is not picked up within two days is back up for sale.
I remember their names and they have no future credibility with me.

something was on the news this morning about paypal and your bank account. The banks and paypal didn't know how the scamers were doing it but they are trying to work on the problem.

The scamers were going through paypal to your bank account and the account holder had to catch it. They made it sound as if the scamers were using the two but was hiding it somehow and the bank had to undercover it.

here is a link to a report.
