Mediacom is the absolute worst company I've ever dealt with. I had them for a year and they could never get my service to work properly. They couldn't even get someone out to bury the cable to my house, which I had paid them to do. The people they sent out to get my service working were incompetent, and it took weeks to get them to come out. DON'T GO WITH MEDIACOM!!

I've got direct TV, and have been satisfied with them.

Whatever you do,

DON'T GO WITH MEDIACOM!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've had experience with them in the past and I hate them witha PASSION. Internet cuts in and out...signal strength goes up, then goes down, loses signal for days and days. The cable TV has a weak signal as well, and picture quality is poor, at best. The worst thingabout Mediacom is their customer service is the WORST IN THE NATION!!! I have been round and round and round with those people, and I developed a true hatred for that company. I'm telling ya, you don't want to deal with this company...please believe me!

I switched to Direct TV and Bellsouth DSL for the internet. I couldn't be happier! Never skipped a beat since installation! Signal strength and picture quality is top-notch!

Generally you get more channels for your money with Satellite and the picture cannot be beat.

As for the local cable companies, we get more customers from Mediacom then any where else. Is there anybody out there that is happy with their Mediacom? Not many I'm sure. Cox does a better job and it is harder toconvert one of their customers. That being said if you compare channel to channel satellite will beat Cox most of the time as well.

What ever you do, if you do decide to go with satellite please do not call one of those 1-800 #'s. We can give you the same deals as they can but with us you get good local service to back it up. For anybody on the fence trying to decide which route to go give us a call at Dan's Satellites 994-6740. We will give you a quote of what your actual monthly bill will be after all the fee's and taxes are added on unlike a lot of companies that sell you on the base rate and dont tell you about the other costs involved.

If you call anyone else other than Dan's Satellites, you must like throwing away your time and money. Most people don't like to deal with the satellite companies because they think there is no one local to use. WRONG. Matt and these guysat Dan'sare great. If I have had a problem, these guys come on out and make it right with my Dish service.

I have been a pretty happy camper with my Dish Network service. I am paying the same amount for HD service with Dish Network as I used to pay Cox for basic standard def. Satellite hands down gives you better bang for your buck. Just take a look at each one's programming line up and see which one suits your needs. For the most part Dish Network is usually about $5.00 cheaper per month for the similar packages vs. Direct TV. But Direct TV does have some additional channels and options such as the NFL package if that is what you are after. For me, I had no choice for cable. I had to go with one of the dish providers and I chose Dish Network simply based on price and have been pretty happy for the most part.

Oh and if anyone wants to use Dish Netowrkplease let me know that you would like to use one ofmy Dish Club referals. I get paid and so do you if I give you one of my referal numbers to use at sign-up. It pays you an additional $50 off your first bill on top of any deals and discounts you get at sign-up.

I have had Cox, Mediacom, a friend had Dish and I currently have Directv! As an EXPERT in TV watching (if you don't believe me then ask my wife) By far Directv is the BEST hands down! ALL of the channels that are broadcast are in digital, that is something you don't get with cable PERIOD! I will admit I have had Directv in 3 houses and the signal does fade when it rains, however, I must tell you that it does depend on a lot of things! First, you must consider how many trees that you have in your yard! That is a huge factor. At the house I am living in now I cut down trees to improve my signal strength! Second, you must consider who installs the dish. The first time I had it installed it never went out at all, including those wonderful summer soakers! The second time I had it it was installed by someone different, and I think they must have got paid by the job, and the signal was horrible! The wind would blow and it would go out! However, once I learned how to fine tune it, it was perfect again! Third, Directv, offers more HD channels than anyone else, with more coming out this year! I have been told by Directv, that all of their channels will be offered in HD by the end of the year! At the end of the day it is what you think will best fit your needs! Remember this though like others have said, after Dennis and Ivan, with th help of my generator, I had Satellite TV the next day watching those poor soles whom lost everything and it took my neighbors 3-4 weeks to get their tv back and they still had to pay the whole time! Also, Mediacom, Cox, Brighthouse, they all get their signals from a satellelite dish, why not cut out the midlle man? Good luck in your decision!

I have had both cable companies and one satellite. I went back to MediaCom so I could have cable modem along with cable T.V. I have no problem with Mediacom. Yes, satellite has so many more options. I pay my bill in person every month and they ladies up on Avalon are great and always helpful. That being said, if I EVER change I will go see Matt at Dan's. I've never heard anything bad about that business and they way they treat people. :clap

Edited to note I'm not a big T.V. watcher. I watch a lot more since I got married but besides HBO/Showtime Boxing on Sat night and College football in the fall, I'd just assume do something else than watch a movie/TV. This may be why I don't mind my MediaCom service.

I have had them all and Direct TV is the best. Customer support, picture quality, channel options.... The best by far. I hate Mediacom!
