we do our best to starve the beast, by having basic cable, and watching good shows on the internet. Two companies i hate in the world. at&t, and cox cable.

I have internet and basic cable with Cox. I don't see any difference on this bill as compared to last month. You guys must have more services.

Default ...the bills are going up...

My wife is a savvy buyer and has for two years told the cox reps that ATT was offering great deals in our neighborhood to switch.(the ATT sales guy woke me up from 3 naps to try to make me switch).. We didn't want to and they (Cox)co-operated but, as shrewed as she is it is more now than two years ago...

K-Bill,

I have the Premier internet package that I bought on a special offer last year. It was $31.00 with the tax and add-on stuff for 12 months, then it jumped up to $64.99. Maybe that was the special you had also. I like the speed of their Premier package but I don't think I like it $33 more than it was through the year.

Maybe a call is in order to see if they will bend on their rates or if I need to search out another carrier. Does anyone use another carrier than Cox in this area? I see some trucks around the area with Century Link on the sides does anyone use them? How do their rates compare to Cox and others?

Mixed reviews here too on AT&T. Had the guy out here a few months ago cause I was having problems with mediacom plus their rates(mediacom) jumped almost double at what i was paying. Anyway AT&T was about the same and after doing research I found you could get AT&T from their website cheaper than going thru a rep. I called mediacom and told them I was switching. They ended up giving me special offer that I couldn't refuse.

on the other hand I haven't figured out why we all still have cable and fibre optics with all the wireless technology out there. Seems to me with wireless phones we should have the same technology with our TV's now-a-days. Jus plug in a jump drive or something and go totally wireless. No more cables. I did some research and found some companies working on this

yeah it sounds like the same type of promo but mine was with phone. i'm one of the only people i know under 40 yrs old that has a house phone. haha. but i guess last year when i asked them to hook it up we got a year long promo with all these features (voicemail, call id, etc). so it expired today. if it weren't for this thread i would not have even checked my account until it was time to pay the bill. but i was able to call yesterday, and i was going to just drop to basic phone, but they got me on another year long promo. and that kicked it right away so this thread (and boatjob!!) actually saved me about $50/month.

Mistake Leaves Man With $16M Cable Bill

Time Warner Says Worker Typed Wrong Amount Into System

BEAVERCREEK, Ohio -- Try fitting this cable bill into the monthly budget. An Ohio man says Time Warner Cable told him he owed the company $16.4 million. Daniel DeVirgilio, of Beavercreek, says his payment was rejected because it wouldn't cover the total. His bill is usually $80. DeVirgilio tells the Dayton Daily News he wanted to watch the NCAA basketball tournament's Sweet 16 but didn't expect it to cost a million dollars per team. He jokes he should have added Showtime to his channels because the charge of a few extra dollars doesn't seem big in comparison. Time Warner says human error is to blame for the payment problem. Officials say a worker typed the wrong amount owed, and a letter to DeVirgilio was automatically generated. They're working to resolve the issue.

My Cox phonemail system up until about a week ago would record both phone messages and fax messages if I was out of the office or on the line.

Their new system can't handle recording faxes.

I spent quite a bit of time this morning discussing it with them.

I have to have that capability.

Now I have to look into alternative hardware/carrier/services providers to figure out what to do.

Oh well. I was annoyed at their rates, anyway.
