War is hell Hogdog. It's not nice and pretty. Sometimes it just has to be done. This is from retired LE.

War is hell and it is a really dirty deal and I agree but this was just a case of law enforcement... not war...
At least the dog got out of the van safely...

Involving innocent citizens in a fire fight is a conscious decision not an irrefutable requirement . If each officer performed the widely accepted "Double tap" technique, how long were they firing or did they toss out all training and go for "slide lock"?

I hope everyone understands, I am glad the guys got stopped at any cost to their well being! I am just very adamant in my opinion regarding the use (legal or illegal) of firearms. Might be due to having the unbreakable rules of safe gun handling ingrained in my head since I was under 4 and toting a "Winchester 94" cap gun and those chrome plated "6 shooters" which was even tougher training as I got to shooting "real guns" at 6.

I am a rabid self defense nut and equally rabid anti crime...

I am glad when folks of various mindset and opinion can carry on a civil discussion...

BTW, where did this take place, Doing a google search based on the title of this thread didn't land me any hits.

I am a former SWAT member, and this function was successfully executed. With the foreknowledge that the bad guys were armed to the teeth w/ autos, I understand why the LEO's wanted to make every effort to ensure that they could go home and be with their families tonight. As with most shootings, there will always be a small % of folks who will criticize it.Until you have been there yourself, it is sometimes difficult to understand.

I know you have your expert opinion on this as well as every other topic on here but let me ask you would you "double tap" when you have 2 pieces of shit shooting full autos at you? All that goes out the window when you have lead flying your way. Two of your brothers are dead on the ground, you not thinking about double tap. You are shooting to kill and shooting everything you have before they can kill another one of your brothers or an innocent bystander. Sometimes common sence takes over and the department double tap"policy"goes out the window.

I pledge allegiance to the flag for witch it stands - that was then- I wish it were now. I'm patriotic as all get out - family members major officer in Air Force & so on. But, before the emotion blurs the facts - let's WAIT & learn them. With all that is going on in this country - this may be the tip of the ice burg. Just listen to Kennedy's speach the night prior to being shot - nothing surprises me anymore! NOTHING!

It was my understanding that this occurred at 2 locations... The slain officers would have been at the initial point of contact. From what I read, a game officer spotted the van and did a right fine job when he T-Boned them...

As for would I double tap with lead coming my way... ABSOLUTELY!!! But most of my time would be behind cover and when it seemed safest I would attempt to poke my head up and try to get 2 rounds off before ducking back down...

As for my "EXPERT OPINION" I don't have one... I do have opinions based on personal research on many subjects. Some of that research was done when I was getting my degree at "The School Of Hard Knocks"...

In none of the video of this case shows the first responders taking fire from these nut jobs. May have occurred but previous to the start of the footage...

I can assure you that if me and 10 of my huntin' buddies were firing at 2 individuals in the front seat of a minivan, the bullet damage to the vehicle would have been much better grouped...

And if you go back and read my posts with an open mind rather than as you did, you would see that my only concern with this was the risk of collateral damage to the innocent public...
