Had one of my wife's customers tell me once that it's easy to stretch the plastic on a case of water enough to get to the center ones and then fill them with clear liquors such as Vodka and Gin. Then you just put the bottles you filled back into the center of the pack and use a blow dryer/heat gun to tighten the plastic back up and it looks brand new...

I know of someone that brought alcohol onto the ship in green tea bottles. They have done it a few times and it has worked. As for the Cubans make sure they are hidden well when entering the ship. They searched our bags pretty well but they missed the 10 or so they had. Smoke a few while you're there and enjoy!

I make no claim to being a cigar afficionado .... but one told me once that Cuban cigars are not what they used to be and that smoking one from Cuba is really just more of a bragging-rights thing.

Fella' said the Cuban government through nationalized/collectivist agricultural policies over the years allowed the "Cuban" tobacco strain to degrade - and if you want a real Cuban cigar like they were pre-1960 get a Nicaraguan or Honduran from "Cuban seed."

had a friend (really) who brought Cuban cigars back about twice a year from 'business' trips. I asked how he got them in the US and he said he didn't try to hide them and nobody ever even asked.

I have brought back cubans every time we travel and have never had a problem. Just make SURE you are dealing with very well known shop when buying them and even then your taking a chance with fakes. It is much easier to just order them from a reputable dealer online. A "friend" of mine does this often. As for quality of the Cubans mentioned in the above post, you are a little misinformed. Certain brands always hold true to the Cuban "hype". There are tons of sites that will show you the differences in true Cubans and knock offs. Try Cigar Aficionado for more info and DO NOT BUY them from ANYONE off the street!!
