I think that's actually a training exercise.Damn good pilot & boat driver,a Chinook has a lot of rotor wash. Most people don't know a 47 is the fastest U.S. armed forces helicopter.

I didn't think this was combat footage. Nevertheless, I was shocked at the amount of water the aircraft took on and the speed in which that boat entered.

That is just absolutely amazing and an example of the importance of training and teamwork!

Looks more like an H-46 Sea Knight than a H-47 (Chinook). We did water landings and training like this over in the San Diego area back in the '80s. Lots of fun but the suction the water would put on the helo made for interesting take offs.

We claimed the fastest thing about our 53 with the J-Mod as well, they were fast as hell compared to most helo's, never been on a chinook before, we refered to them as shit hooks, don't know why realy.

Was that footage from Saturday buy any chance? Saw them running around and was just wondering, lot's of those little black Zodiacs under them, around the launch on Navarre bch.

Turtle it was not from Saturday. I saw it in a linked post on YouTube.

These things are pretty awesome for a civilian, like myself, to see. I am very thankful for our military.

I had an AH-64 pilot tell me while he was in Afghanistan he was an escort for a 47 [that was loaded] & he had to radio the 47 pilot to tell him to slow down if he wanted an escort. They may be big & goofy looking but they will haul ass.
