Default Ceramic grills?

Browsing around the internet I found a bunch of different bands of ceramic grills. Any suggestions on the best one for the money? BGE, Primo, Bayou Classic etc. I saw the Primo was made in the USA not sure if that makes a difference but I do like to support in-country companies. Any input would be nice.

I think you are going to find that there is a large, almost "cult" like following for the BGE here on the PFF, myself included. If you are looking for a Kamado style grill / cooker, then in my opinion, the BGE is the way to go.

You will also find that there are several BGE dealers here on the PFF as well, and I can recommend using Sky (screen name is "hotwheels" i do believe ) over at Escambia Electric Motors. I do all of my "egg" shopping there, and have never been dissapionted with the product, nor the customer service.

Oh, and the BGE company is born and bred right here in the USA, has it's roots back in Atlanta, GA in the early 70's !

I've had a Primo (the larger size) for the past few years and several family members have them also. We have enjoyed using them and have had no problems at all. There is probably not much difference in the BGE and Primo - other than you can split the coal bin in the Primo for more indirect smoking. I'm not sure where they are sold in Pensacola, but Moseley's meat market in Daphne, AL carries them.

I saw some Kamado Joe grills in Pensacola Hardware recently. They look like they may be a very good value.

Anybody have any experience with them?

i thought I saw some of the Primo grills at a pool supply place next to the Food World on Pine Forest, Just south of the Interstate.

Spilting the Fire box sounds like a pretty good idea, although would there really be enough room for an adequate supply of charcoal with a split fire box ? Off handded I would think there would be, I know I fill mine pretty full when I do a long smoke, and still have plenty left after 12 Hours, a 50% reduction on coal shouldn't have that much of an effect. How do they do it, is it an insert, or an entirely different set up ?

no need to split the fire box since you have a plate setter, it is even more indirect that way. if you dont have the plate setter, then you should kick your salesman for not forcing you to get one.
Thanks
