Years ago Jason, I had an ole tank 84 Chevy w/ a 6.2 diesel. I blew the tranny and G&J Auto up on Dogwood did the work. They put a shift kit in and all, and did a great job....that was about 19 years ago so not sure about how they operate now, but they are still in business so that is a good sign....

In second Suncoast as well. I've gone there for multiple parts for my Duramax and they are some awesome guys. One of their welders is my side job Welder as well, built me an axle for 150$!

I do recommend staying away from AAMCO

You will get further with tuning, however your tranny and fuel will be the next upgrades.

Your best bet is to swap to a 4r100. They are pretty much what your asking for as far as "beefed up." They come in the 250, 350. They were made for towing.

They aren't 100% plug and play to swap into your 5.4, but it's realitivelt close
