Default Camping at Ft. Pickens

My fiance is in the Navy and coming home next week and we plan to go camping for a few days over at Ft. Pickens. Any suggestions on tent sites at the park,,,, is it better closer to the Gulf circle A and is there some shade at any of these sites or is the Inter-coastal side better. I do live over near Perdido Bay but have never checked out camping over there, just wanted some place close but far enough away,,, something new. Any comments would be helpful,,,, fishing tips also welcomed,,,, have been going to Johnson's beach with my girls and saw many skip jack running close to shore,,, are they good bait for the bigger guys?

I like to stay on the bay side of the second loop. From there it's an easy walk to fish the bay. You need to drive to fish the gulf or pier, so you might as well stay as close to the bay as possible. I'm camping there at the end of Oct.

Default Ft Pickens Camping

I stayed there about a month ago. I didn't have a clue about which site had shade or not or which lot was best. But the folks in the check in center searched available lots and found me a good one. They were very nice people.
