Default building permit?

If i wanted to build a small 8x10 or 8x12 shed in my backyard to put my lawn equipment in (no electrical or anything), would i need a permit?

I'm sure its a dumb question since the county is going to try and make you pay feeson anything you want to do.

I think if it is less than 700 sq ft you won't have to pull the permit, better check with the county, or its easier to get foregiveness than it is to get permission.

Thats the greay area, and it depends on city and county, and zoning crap. No electrical and under a certain size, you can get away with it in most places. Just call scambia County Building Department Josh. Theyll tell yiou

In Santa Rosa County, allnew construction requires a permit. Anything over 400 square feet required engineering work. This was the requirement a couple of years ago - Call Tim Tolbert at the county building department - 981-7000 ext 213 - he'll know the answer. (or ask his secretary)

I can save you a ton on building materials!!!

Just a guess but an 8x10 probably less than $500.00

99.9% of backyard sheds are not permitted. Call the county.

In escambia, I believe it makes a difference if its built off the ground,( ie on posts) as opposed to on a slab as well. But, agree with Clay, Escambia County number is 595 3550
