Can someone please explain to me why Alabama's blocked punt against Florida was not roughing the kicker?
Or maybe running into the kicker.
I mean they bowled him over.
I'm certainly no referee but that looked like a bad no call to me..

I'm not sure which one you mean but as long as the punt is blocked, the incidental contact is ok..... Sorta like the throw away early in the game that was obvious but since there was a player "in the area" it was only an incomplete pass....

I wondered the same thing. The hit was after the blocked kick.

Because he got his hands on the ball first. If you make an attempt to block it and he gets the ball away, but the kicker gets hit, then it is roughing the kicker.

But since they got their hands on the ball, the kicker becomes collateral damage.

At least that's how I understand it, I could be wrong.

John is right. As long as you get a piece of the ball, no call on hitting the kicker.

I used to be a punter in high school, if they block or touch the punt, the punter is free game. I broke a knee with that.

I thought that was the case but I wasn't sure.
I'm surprised more kickers aren't injured in that situation.
Iowa Michigan State was a much better game.
