Default BGE Pizza

Tried my first pizza today on the EGG.

EASY to do...

I used a Bobolo Whole Wheat crust you can buy in a grocery store (whole wheat for my diet) It was "fair" at best, I'll try something else or try making my own the day before next time.

I used this recipe to make it as "healthy" as I could for my diet.

500 to 550 on the egg (place setter feet down, pizza stone on top)

It was GREAT and VERY easy!!!

Better tomatos would be better but all in all, except for the just average crust I'm happy with my first test.

Prep time to slice tomatos, fresh mozzarella, shred some Parmesan Reggiano (expensive but MUCH better than the stuff in a can) and chop some fresh Basil was 5 minutes.

Im sure making my own crust will take longer. But I plan to do the crust dough the day before.

Cooking time was 15 minutes

I added the basil after cooking was complete and on the egg just for the pics.

But EASY and fun... it'd be a fun thing to have the kids make their own pizzas.

I think Georgios will sell their dough, try with the legs up, I think it works better that way (still use the stone too)

Publix sells pizza dough, its pretty good.. its more of a rising thicker crust than I like, but it beats any pre-made stuff..

Check this page out if you really want to get into esoteric pizza making

I'm not a big pizza lover, but I have made them on my egg and I like em....You can put whatever you want not to mention, they don't deliver pizza to my neck of the woods!!!

Make sure there is air gap between your pizza stone and your plate setter...3-4 metal nuts or balls of tin foil will work....helps the circulation of the air/heat better....
