Default Baby Seat Options for Boat

The title basically says it all, I'm looking for different ideas on how people have secured their little one on boating trips. I am considering using my son's car seat and securing it to one of the captains chairs somehow. I have also seen this seat (http://www.babysearock.com/) but it looks like it would get in the way.

What have you guys done?

Thanks

You know i had a long thought about this when my daughter was growing up. Now 2yrs old, i do not have to worry about it as much. My concern was that if i were to attach her to a fixed seat, what would i do if an emergency were to happen. A rouge wave that swamps the boat or a fire would all be reason to get off the boat ASAP. Being strapped into a seat would render the ability to bail in a matter of seconds impossible. What i decided was that if i was going to bring along the little one, i would bring along my wife or a friend to hold my daughter. With a lifejacket on, a carseat would pretty hard to strap into as well.

Maybe find the kid a giant hampster ball and put some chaulks down so it does not roll around. At least if anything happens you know you can toss him over and he will float.

I have a 1, 5, and 7 year all have been on small 18-22 foot boats since about 6 months old. They all hate the life jacket at first but after one trip are happy to wear it to get on boat. Babies usually ride in lap or next to somebody or on a bean bag in the floor

My son has been in the boat with us since he was 2 months old. I would NOT Strap a kid into a seat on the boat. Have someone sit down in the boat and hold the kid in their lap....

Would not strap a child so that they couldn't float loose. I put a good life jacket on my daughter and watched the precious cargo like a hawk.
