Default Automotive question

Okay all you gear heads out there, I got a question for ya. My alternator went out in my Durango. I know it was bad because I had it bench tested. So i get a used one and was told that it was tested and worked. After installing the new alternator my truck will still die once the jumper cables are removed. Could the problem now be the battery? I have a feeling the first thing to do is take out the replacement alternator and go have it bench tested.......but I just put the dang thing in there. Any thoughts

If alternator is bad, vehicle will run as long as a good battery is connected.
Until battery power goes away.

If battery was bad and you jump started vehicle, it would run without battery connected if alternator was good.

It is said that you should not do a battery disconnect while running "new" vehicles.
Might mess up the computer or some such.

Autozone will test your alternator and battery for free at their stores. I found that easier than poking around with my meter when I had issues a while back.
