Grouper Snatcher (5/22/2008)I don't have a problem with do it your selfers. Nothing wrong with that. I just don't like people working out of the back of there truck. If they need money. Go get another job and stop stealing from legitimate companies regardless what type of business it is.
So I guess you never had a buddy do you a favor or anything of the sort. People on the forum are great people and I consider all that I meet to be good friends of mine. Whether good or bad we let our guard down when it comes to trusting most that we meet and do business with on here. I havn't been burned yet by a forum member and I do hope that it continues this way. I do side work. And have many satisfied members on this forum. I save them a ton of money and they provide me a little extra money to support my diving and fishing habit. I tell people up front that I am working on the side etc...

So I guess put me on that list that will work out of the their truck that will try and help out a fellow forum member save some money. I don't need a second job. Mine is enough to support my family. I do it to help people out.

fishn4real (5/21/2008)Sorry Joe, $300 for a fan motor "ain't no deal". Capacitor cost apx $10, motor $50. Oil is cheap.

There was a guy on here last year that was a fireman that did a/c work on the side and was reasonable.

Do a search and check back. Good luck. No, hell no; I'm not sorry I sold my tools and no longer do a/c work.

$300.00 is very reasonable. There are many other cost associated with the replacement of the motor and capacitor. (labor, workers comp., benefits, fuel, truck insurance, truck payment, truck maintenance, liability insurance, business license, warm air license, phone bill, advertising, warranty repaircost if needed, and on and on and on. Just remember that the guy that is doing side work does not have any of this. He damages your unit, burns your house down. Then what are you going to do. People that do side work outside of there regular job are stealing from companies that are running a legitamate business. How would you like it if your boss comes in tomorrow and say's we have to let you go because of the people that are out there doing side work, or maybe your boss can hire the guy that is doing side work as a subcontractor and cut out your job and all the benefits you have.

I don't have a problem with do it your selfers. Nothing wrong with that. I just don't like people working out of the back of there truck. If they need money. Go get another job and stop stealing from legitimate companies regardless what type of business it is.

So, all i have to do is go out, get a truck, a couple of employees, pay workers comp, and liability insurance and i would be the rightful owner of all of the work in pensacola? You mean i could then accuse people who use their talents and skills to help others of stealing something that is rightfully mine? i mean, i do pay liability insurance for God's sake. All of this work has to be mine!! Is business kinda slow for you lately or something?

If you had an employee who went out to quote a job for you, and he told the owner of the residence that he would come back after work and do the job for 50% less....that is stealing. If someone offers a helping hand to someone who needs it on this forum, that is being a good neighbor.

fishn4real (5/23/2008)I say again; $300 for replacing a fan motor ain't no deal.

It's a one hour job; the company pays their techs may $20, so at mostt he's got $85 in labor and material, and Ok, another $20 for the truck charge. What legitimate business do you know, other than the auto dealers, make 200% return on their investment. The deal is, and I know because I taught a/c service and service business management, that the a/c industry is trying to follow the auto repair business by going to a flat rate program. Rather than pricing parts and labor, they will quote one price of say $300 for fan motor replacement; $1,000 for a compressor, $125 for a capacitor. It's a rip off, and is one of the reason I'm not in that industry anymore. I say look around for someone who will do a good job at a fair price.

Good luck.
Someone pissed in your cornflakes....Sidework..regular work. Atleast they are working..You have all these mooches out there collecting welfare...Thats what we need to bitc" about. Not SOMEONE doing some side work...
