I've got all those albums by the artists you mentioned except Peter, Paul and Mary but Steppenwolf and Grand Funk were probably my favorites.
My peak album-buying years were 1969-1975. Most cost around $2.
I got rid of my 1980 vintage Pioneer system last year but still have a 90s vintage.

[QUOTE=CCC;2368209]Marantz, Kenwood, Technics, LOVE EM !!!!!! The big old brushed metal receivers that you could roll the tuner knob and it would just glide. I am thinking about buying a whole classic setup just for the hell of it. Look at these doesn't it bring back memories ???

Don't forget Sansui and even Fisher.

Great memories of those old units.

Ha, Grand Funk, my very first concert, Mobile, 1973. There was some strange smelling incense in there !!!

My first stereo was a Marantz amp/tuner of a whopping 30 watts, but I swear it could blow the chips out of my current 100 watt Sony. Had a Dual 601 turntable with whatever the top-o-the-line Shure cartridge was. The clarity of Pink Floyd through that system has yet to be matched by digital components.

My first wife ended up with the stereo, as well as everything else I owned but it was worth 10 times that to be rid of that.............................................. ...........

And who remembers "quadrasonic"?

Rick

I'm seriously thinking about taking a car stereo and putting a beefy DC power supply on it for the home. I have a pair of Bose speakers in the living room and on the screen porch. I don't want or need surround sound or frigging equalizers. A simple bass and treble adjustment with a loudness switch is plenty to worry about. I do like lots of inputs though USB and auxiliary especially.

Yep, got both of those albums. I was living in Turkey (with no radio) when I discovered Grand Funk so I don't know what their hits were. I listened to all of it.
