Default 2007 Chevy Silverado (new body style)

OK guys I know this has nothing to do about fishing but I have found in the past this forum has a wealth of other information so here goes...I have a 07' Silverado (new body style) that develops a popping noise around the windshield starting at about 60mph. It sounds like big bugs hitting the windshield. I've searched the entire front of the vehicle and can not find any loose parts. (At least not sitting in my driveway.) I've searched the internet and there seems to be some issues with bug shields (which I have) and wind deflection and weather stripping around the windshield. Does anybody else have a 07 Silverado with this noise problem? If so what have you done to correct the problem?

ThanksScott

Yep, I had an 02, my brother has an 03 and now I have an 04, all with the same noise. I have heard the theory about the bug sheild and it seems to be the culpret. I gotten used to it and hardly notice it anymore. The fact is I'd rather put up with the noise than not have the bug shield. Not that keeping the bugs off of the windshield is the main idea, without it bugs would hit that flat portion of the hoodand eventually damage the paint if you don't get them off. And I don't wash it every week so eventually the bugs would decompose and the chemical reaction will weaken the clear coat.

Had it happen on a 05 and had the guys at a local glass shop (tommys glass) put a bead of silicone around the windshield, under the trim, you cant see it and the noise stopped. Sounded just like you explained. good luck

I've got the exact same truck and the exact same problem. Driving me absolutely NUTS!

I went on a trip to Alabama here recently and the damn clicking (sound's to me like it's coming from the passenger side enclosure separating the door and windshield).

I thought, perhaps, the wind is getting through into the channel and slapping wires around.

Anyway, Same truck, Same exact problem.

I have an 04 Tahoe with the same problem. I took the bug shield off and I still have the clicking noise on the passenger side. It has the vent visors on all 4 doors. Sounds like someone throwing small rocks against the windows.

I had a 2002 F-150 and had this same problem. I couldnt ever find anything wrong just sitting in the driveway but when I was driving about 55mph+ it would start making the noise.

It was the weather stripping around the windshield!!

Make sure its really sealed, even though it may look like it is it could be loose.

I put a few drops of super glue on it and bam, peoblem fixed

Thats funny, I have an 07 Tundra that does the exact same thing. T chalked it up to the cold weather. I dont have a bug shield though.
