Well guys and gals it is time again for my shop and I to havea morale day. I brought up the idea of gathering somewhere either a pier or beach, and putting together a small fishing tourny for us. Most of them thought that it was a grand idea so here is my question. Where should we go??? What should we target???and what bait/technique should we employ so we arn't just sitting on our butts all day? We have a very limited supply in our moral fund so this trip would have to be fairly cheap. I normally fish from a boat so I am not in the know as far as shore fishing. Thank you guys in advance.

Not many choices, Go to Bob Sikes and make it a tournment type outing, of course provide cold drinks, eats and prizes for the biggest fish, most, and smallest. Winner would get a plaque with name engraved and make it a yearly event. Reds, sheephead, specks and white trout are easy to catch. Most likely cut bait and frozen shrimp will be used so may cut out the sheepshead but you should catch a lot of white trout and a few red fish and maybe even a black drum. Just my thoughts.:letsdrink

There is always the park on 17th at the foot of the 3 mile bridge. They have tables and BBQs and you can fish the mouth of Texar out to the bridge.

I have a few friends and they have been catching all above mentioned. For you situation the white trout sound like what most people will be catching. You can use squid or frozen shrimp for bait and then cut up some of the white trout for cut bait. Reds will most likely be bulls so use a half of a white trout for them.

Cost one dollar per vehicleif you go to the Pensacola beach side. That is probally where you'll need to go due to parking, the bridge is free and there is plenty of room to set things up. You can fish day or night. Make sure you know the fish limits due to the FWC will check out there often.

if you want to fish the beach side of the bridge, it will cost you a dollar per vehicle to cross the bridge, then park and fish. should bea great time!
