Any advise on where to buy a good cast net for mullet throwing from a boat? Where, what size net and what size mesh? Brail or Bag? Thanks in advance.

If you plan on casting for mullet in grass/shallow water only, use a bag net. Deeper water and you'll need a brail net...heavy and big as you can handle. The size of the net depends entirely on you. A 12 footer will certainly catch more fish than a 9 footer but only if you can open both equally as well. If you've got net skills and a good back, get a 12' brail if you'll be chasing mullet in deep AND shallow water. The trick to using brail in shallow water is you pull it in QUICKLY if you know you covered'em up. The bag traps them when they try to swim under the net once it's already hit bottom, in deeper water the bag is mostly useless.
Where to buy? Pretty much any B+T store. I like Betts brand. Don't try to pinch pennies while net shopping. Cheap nets suck! Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk |

I'm still learning, but I heard Tim wade cast nets were very good and that's where I got mine. It took a couple weeks for them to make it, but it came in. Not cheap. Bout $250. If you call Tim he will walk you through what you need just by talking with him.
