Default What is it worth?

My Dad died in April and now my Mom is trying to give us 3 children one of his posessions each. My brother will get his 4WD Kubota tractor. Dad only paid $2500 for it years ago. My sister got his truck and spent nearly $3000 on it before she could drive it home to Alabama. I will get his boat. It has a 96 25hp Johnson on it. Spent about $400 on the rig getting it back in shape. I think I got the item with the least value. Can anyone give me an idea what this boat, motor and trailer is worth? Not wanting to sell it. Just wondering.

There is a difference in what it is worth to YOU because it was your dad's, versus what it is worth to someone else. I have a welded aluminum boat that my father and uncle built for me. You couldn't buy it from me.

If you were to sell it on Craigslist, you would probably get somewhere between $1500 and $2000 for it depending on condition.

^^^ THIS ^^^

Had a lapstrake hull like that design. After a lot of sweat and unknown amount of $$, ended up with this. Think I sold it for $3500.

Looks like a Dawson. Those were made at the Circle in Pensacola.

looks like a sweet skiff for flats, marsh or river. i don't know how old you are, but handing that down to your kid would be awesome.

I am not going to sell it, but did want to get an idea of its worth. Looks like I may have got something with as much value as the truck or tractor. Kanaka I was thinking about adding a casting platform on the front. Was yours stable? Yes it is a Dawson 138.

You should be able to add a casting platform to the front, just not too high. I would add a trolling motor before I added a casting platform. I fished out of a boat similar to this for years.
