Default What shop do you recommend for Yamaha engine work?

If you have seen my other threads you will know that we have had some trouble with our Yamaha F-150. We got everything back together but the timing is way out on the motor and it will not start. I need a shop that can set the timing and do a compression test on the motor. The compression gauge that I have will not fit the motor due to the spark plug threads being to deep in the socket.

I can not stress to you enough how awesome the guys at the ships chandler are in destin! The are yamaha gurus! When you leave there, you will leave with confidence that everything is fixed and done right. They will explain to you what is wrong and what they did to fix it. Its nice to walk in there and they treat you like your one of them. They are just fishermen making a living working on boats to support their habit too. If your close, they are WELL worth the drive!

Kenny at Barber Marine. I think that's where he is now.

Edit: A childhood pal is the GM there now, too. Small world.

+1 if you looking for a shop. I know there are a couple of guys on here that will come to you as well that are well recommended also. One of them is on here by the name of TheMaintenanceShop.

I have an F150 also and I used to drive from Ft Walton all the way over to ECM and Kenny more than bent over backwards to fix me up and even made turn around time much faster than he said initially. That being said take it to Kenny at Barber Marine if you need the job done well, right and quickly.

I like to take my gear to someone who is authorized by the manufacturer to fix it. They go to service schools, have the diagnostics and can buy the parts. Some of the shops talked about are authorized - To find all the authorized dealers just plug in your zip http://yamahaoutboards.com/
