Default What did I see?

Fishing 20 miles or so offshore yesterday. Fly line went off, figured it was a king. Very strong fish, really couldn't do much with it. (20# line) Then it jumped out of the water. I saw at least 6' of the fish, was grey color, and about 12"+ in diameter. It wasn't a king, not flipper, and not a wahoo. Didn't see the head or tail. I'm wondering if it was some variety of shark? It was seen by two of us on the boat, just a snapshot moment and it was gone. Line broke just after the jump.

Sounds like a silver king (aka Tarpon). Your post is very descriptive of tarpon behavior. Although 20 miles offshore seems excessive.
