Default West Marine Prices?

Why are their prices so high? I went to buy some contura switches for my electronics the other day. At West Marine they were $30. At Auers Marine in Ft. Walton they were $10. Why would a company that buys in the volume of West Marine demand so much more? This kind of makes me sick. The folks there are super nice, but come on! Do you all find this is common with West Marine?

I asked them the same question, They told me that because there home office is in California we get California prices. But I found out that they have a company wide price match policy. So if you find something they have that you need and you find it cheeper any place else (even on internet) they have to price match it for you.

In which case, go ahead and give your money to the local guy rather than making WM squeal like a girl and lose a small profit when they been raping folks that don't know better...

I go to big box stores for things a local firm cannot compete with.

I buy most of my meats from a small private grocer and any specialty items I try to go to the mom and pop store...

Generally, they are not usually way high to these "ChinaMart" sellers.

I am a small business owner myself. I always make sure my prices beat the box stores.

We do all we can to take care of our customers. Unlike the box stores.

I really, Really appreciate locals patronage.
