Default Updating Electronics

I’m looking to update my electronics. I currently have dated RayMarine C80. Came with the boat. No issues. I just want something newer. It’s for sale btw. No sure on the value. Make an offer! I typically fish bottom structure with my son.

I’m looking for a good fishfinder/gps combo, without breaking the bank. What do you guys recommend and/or does anybody have a deal? I’ve looked at Garmin ECHOMAP Plus g3 94sv and the Simrad Go7.

I’m looking for a good, reliable unit to replace my C80.

Thanks for the advise!

I have a Go7 in my saltwater boat and like it. I just bought a 94sv plus, but plan on using it with livescope in freshwater. I have heard good things about 94sv in saltwater.

Both of what your looking at are decent units. Searching out structure can be made easier with the right X-Ducer. Transom mounts get you by...The right Thru Hull can open a new world.

The nod still goes to Garmin for ease of use.

Let me know if you need help on that.

I was looking at the Go7(Simrad) and 94sv(Garmin) for my Key West. I liked the look of the Go7 face while operating but decided on the 94sv due to ease of use and accessibility to the sim card. I have had all Garmin products in the past and they all pretty much work the same. Makes my learning curve shorter when using a new product. My 94sv is flush mounted. On the Go7 the sim card is in the back of the unit making it difficult to access vs. the 94sv is on the front. Both units are good. Just have to look at the small details and see what is best for you. Good luck!

Surprised to see this Garmin would probably be my last suggestion. Mainly because you must use there charts. But just my 2 cents. But they are pretty dumby proof I will say that

I have twin Simrad EVO-2 in 9'' display with touch screens. I've had Raymarine in the past. My Key West came with the Simrads and after using them, I like the Raymarine better. One thing I did find out on a 24' boat is that touch screens are not very useful because the waves are usually thrashing you about to much to use them.

Touch screens I never recommend.....I've seen several folks after going to them....next time go back to buttons.

Why? Because a boat moves.....But unlike a car....It bounces around...constantly stabbing the wrong spot on the screen gets old.
