I know a guy who fished from a Navy helicopter near a floating object. Half a world away. If I remember right he hooked up but did not "land" a Mahi.

Maybe a sea story though...

My first ship 1960-64 USS Maloy EDE 791 we would sit in one spot for weeks off Burmuda. Garbage dump would bring the sharks around. Shipmates would fish for them with hooks made onboard and manila line. Got to do something while off watch and work hours.

I spent quite a bit of time on carriers... I always thought it was a shame to be underway for weeks or months, nothing but water in sight, and not a single fishing rod around.
