The smart presidents who were not puppets, would say we need to get off oil because they know the real affects of it on their people...Control. If a country relies on a single item for existence then it is easy to control the existance of an entire country.

But it is double sided. If oil were not a monopoly fuel then we would not have these problems. Drill in America, send the foreign oil rigs home, and put our own rigs out there. Then watch the price of oil drop like a rock.

Accidents happen, but dont let the government use it as a scare tactic to justify raping you and your family.

Oh, and scientists are just people like you and I, and remember, money talks.

You must have been talking about me with the Salazar reference. I NEVER said BP spill was his fault. The moratorium was directly his fault. If you or I had have done what he did, we would be in jail right now. Don't believe me? Check this out.

"The seven experts who advised President Obamaon how to deal with offshore drilling safety after the Deepwater Horizon explosion are accusing his administration of misrepresenting their views to make it appear that they supported a six-month drilling moratorium — something they actually oppose. The experts, recommended by the National Academy of Engineering, say Interior Secretary Ken Salazar modified their report last month, after they signed it, to include two paragraphs calling for the moratorium on existing drilling and new permits.
Salazar’s report to Obama said a panel of seven experts “peer reviewed” his recommendations, which included a six-month moratorium on permits for new wells being drilled using floating rigs and an immediate halt to drilling"

A review of saftey procedures and evaluation of the effectiveness of blow-out preventers on similar wells...Yes. Not approving any permits and effectively shutting down drilling for over a year...No.

HELL NO! 3 months before the BP spill 23 +_ coal miners were killed in a mining accident. No coal mines were shut down. Why, Union presidential voter block support, AND the country depends on coal (just like oil). There were several airline incidents before the spill. Why not shut down the Airlines?
All of the scientist and experts at the National Academy of Engineering told them not to impose a moratorium. They were asked for a report and recommendations. The report was turned over to Salazar for review, and Salazar added (2) paragraphs to the report, just above the signatures of the scientist. Like I said before, you or I would have been in jail if we had have done something like this. The 6 month moratorium cost the US Billions in lost revenues (just at the time that it was needed). This 6 month moratorium has shut down businesses, and distroyed lives. ANYBODY that had a clue in his position would have known that you don't shut down the very thing that feeds this economy. It was just another stupid mistake. Right now, as you are reading this, I am crewing repossesed oilfield boats that are being bought by Mexicans, and being transported to Peru. Once the crews finish the run, they are back on the unemployment line again. The moratorium was a HUGE blunder, AND has even been declared illegal in a court of law. See; This is the GREATEST explaination that I have ever seen for somebody that doesn't understand the working of this nightmare. http://www.therightscoop.com/obamas-...d-illustrated/

One other note that allot of people don't understand. The moratorium was lifted 3 weeks before the last election in a political move, BUT when they did this they put there foot on the neck of the permiting process. The moratorium is basically still on even though he said it had been lifted........ The origianl article that I posted to start this thread gives hard numbers on the decline of this industry because of the "now" Permit delays. I HATE politics............. BOTH sides of it.............

I have no problem with a 6 month safety stand down if operator can't meet safety requirement and don't have the equipment in place to operate safely. If they can't meet the qualification for permits, remove there leases and permit someone who can meet permits.

Their stockholder ,owner and insurance companies won't let them apply for permit because they would liable

ABSOLUTELY!!! Just like the multi year moratoriums against commercial air travel everytime a jet-liner crashes with hundreds of souls and thousands of gallons of highly toxic jet fuel aboard...

That is what they do following a plane crash right?

Or only after a crash that can be attributed to illegal practices like the crash of the Jet Blue plane in the 'glades? I mean that moratorium didn't hurt the industry too bad, right...

X2 Glad to see someone act responsible and shut down till we have safety measure and plan in place.

Everybody was blaming Obama and BLM when it happened because Obama was considering opening some coastal permit.

Whose fault would it have been if the BP Maranis keep operating in the gulf and sank in the gulf instead off Africa.

Reagan put these law on the books (Barbary Island 1981 spill) and now Obama is enforcing them.

BLM was a sad powerless joke left over from the GWB error. Remember how many seals and walrus BP could protect with their GWB permit.

Free oil for all these OCS operator due to the Bush error made in the Oil Act he signed in 2004. Accidently LOL Leaving the 25 % Oil Depletion royalty out of the Oil Act He signed. LOL

This has cost our Revenue billion of $ and the money has all gone off shore to never return.

I sure appreciate GWB giving all our oil away for free to these foreign countries.

What a "Act of God" or a "Travesty" these 2 poltical edgits from Texas call it.
