Are you asking about on the side of alligator alley? Tamiami Trail (State road 41) runs from Tampa to Miami hence Tamiami. It was the main thoroughfare heading south on the west coast before I-75. Just trying to see a general location you are asking about fishing.

The length of SR 41. Ditch fishing.

Default I love to fish down there but haven't in a while.

Avoid tall grass. Of course, watch out for gators and pythons and cars.

Favorite lures, small spinner baits and swimming grubs rigged weedless.

Safest to use spinning tackle with 20-30# braid. Carry leather gloves to pull loose from snags and grass. 7 foot rod helps 3000-4000 size reel is adequate.

Target inflows, culverts. Basically any feature that stands out.

Go down in good weather. Fronts screw things up. Carry a large cooler and fill it with Mayan Cichlids and big Bluegills. Don't keep Oscars because the meat, while tasty, doesn't freeze well. Cichlids are great.

Let me know before you go and I'll make you up some sure fire tiny spinner baits. GARON-TEED.

I'd follow you down but my truck has 1,200,000 plus miles on it.

I can recommend other places down in SF also. (with good driving directions) Places for Peacocks, Snakeheads, big Snook and Tarpon. I'm too old to go it alone anymore and my son is in Afghanistan.

I don't want to psost this stuff out in the open. Call something paradise and it soon isn't.

Been up and down Tamiami trail many many times since the late 50s never seen but a few fishermen fishing only a few locals with cane poles. always see gators. I love going across the trail only went once on the new highway. also when going to KW I go 997 at the casino and go through Homestead, stop at the roadside markets and get Mangos and refuel for the last 150 miles.

Current plan is 2 7.5' spinning rods and 8 wt flyrod, bug spray (for me, traveling companion is macho) and non skid tennis shoes in case it's time to move.
Fishing, so open carry is good???
