Default Something with Teeth

Fairly inexperienced saltwater fisherman here. I Bought a 23 ft walkaround several months ago that I keep in Panama City. Ive been out a half dozen weekends this year trying to learn as much as I can. Have caught "something" everytime but 1, just not a lot. Went out with a guide on my boat once and it helped. Coming down next week for entire week and bringing my 14 yr old Grandson to fish with me. He's had a troubled life to a degree, and hoping just me and him can re-establish a good connection spending time on the water. He's excited and wants to catch something with teeth! Shark, Cuda, Kings..whatever. I'd also like to do some Grouper fishing. I have read a lot on PFF and other sites and think I have right equipment and a decent idea of what to do. I have downloaded a bunch of public#s into my FF, But hoing for some last minute advice from locals as to where, what, how to increase odds of hooking up with some toothy critters to get that boy fired up about fishing rather than some "worse" alternatives. Not interested in going out on a charter. I have all the needed safety equip and Sea Tow but its a single 250 Verado so prob wont be going out more than 10-15 miles if its smooth or be in the bay if not. All advice welcome.

Find a good wreck or reef and flyline dead cigs and you will find your toothy critters. You can also drop bait to the bottom for Snapper and Grouper.

Just chiming in to say welcome to boating, and a prayer that you succeed in your endeavor. You're in a good area for fishing all kinds of fish almost year around. I'm sure some of the local guys will be a wealth of info. Just remember, find the structure and / or bait, you'll find fish.
Tight lines and God Bless.

Any wreck, free line a cig or 2 while you bottom fish....use to send out a free line and as soon as it hits the water all you hear is the drag!!! Hope you can get your youngin' on some fish brother, and welcome to the PFF!!!

Just think "chum". Whole fish in the bay of out the pass, chunk some, semi fillet the rest, tie em together, hang off the stern, oughta draw in some critters.
Skippies are excellent for this stuff.
