Default So, what's up with my bottom paint?

New bottom job. Just pulled the boat for routine maintenance after a month in fresh/brackish water. Any ideas?

Looks like delamination.

How did you prep the hull before applying paint?

I didn't, I had it professionally done. It appears to be the second coat. I see bottom paint underneath, not fiberglass.

Will do, just wanted to see if the hive mind had any ideas on this. Didn't know if it was common or not.

It's common if the surface had contaminants on it or if the second coat wasn't done within a certain window. There is a slight chance that it's a bad batch, but the vast majority of coating failures is from failure to prep the surface properly.

Never seen that bad of failure in an isolated place the rest above it looks like a non skid application with the tiny bumps. Bottom paint should be smooth. What size boat? Is it kept in water.
