Default Retired blue water offshore.

Well after 40 years of blue water fishing starting in S FL as a teen, and ending up in Orange Beach. I sold my offshore boat this past weekend. Yes it's bitter sweet, but after this year of what I consider poor offshore fishing it just wasn't hitting me like it use to. Knees, back stopped me from fishing in anything >3ft, one major repair (warped head on the Cummins). Some of the best times of my life have been offshore and have witnessed some remarkable sunrises and sunsets, great camaraderie with friends and family, and experienced some of the most exciting fishing that you can only get from being offshore. Some of my most memorable, 19 sailfish release day West Palm, 4/4 Blue marlin Walker's Cay, 73lb wahoo caught by my 8 year son at the Nipple, biggest cobia 64lb Destin, a 51lb bull dolphin in Marathon FL keys (in a dolphin tourney knowing we won 25k only to loose to a 53lber 1/2 hour before weigh closed.and memorial service at sea for ashes of my best friends mother. And proud to say after 40 years we never (thank God) had a major medical issue or had to call the Coast Guard
on the boat, always practice safety first.

Best wishes to all you offshore guys, be safe, don't intentionally go out in questionable weather, remember with guest on the boat they don't know as much as you and will make mistakes .

Thank you for reading, keep an eye on the fishing rods and reels for sale (soon as I figure out how to post pics and get paid from people on line) I have mostly Penn reels, boxes and boxes of lures.

Fair winds and calm seas

Pass it on brother. Take care. Sounds like you have had some very memorable moments out at sea.

I kept the boat in OBA, live in Atl, and have all my rods and reels up here. 4 30 international, 4 50's, 3 6/0, don't know how many spinning reels, from 5500 - 8500, have to go through all the lures, mostly offshore stuff, illander, stretches, marlin lures, moldcrafts all sizes

Glad you have tons of memories....it's time to kick back and take an occasional off shore trip w/ someone else running the show and it will be more enjoyable to you as fer not having to worry over everything and just fish! Good luck on the sale of all your gear, sure you won't have much trouble getting rid of it!!!
