Default Water Pump

Put the engine in gear so that the shaft won't turn when you put it back together.

Marine grease on all the bolt surfaces before putting it back together, you'll be much happier the next time doing that, keeps the "white stuff" from building up.
MrFish and chaps like this.

Make sure you inspect the housing. The insert ( metal cup in the kit) should slip in easily and should not be flush with the bottom of the housing when installed. If the old insert is hard to remove go ahead and buy a new housing. They are about 10 bucks.
You are supposed to lube the inside of the cup and impeller with soap solution to help with start up. I lube mine with a very thin film of marine grease.
The kit comes with an o ring and gasket for the piece that holds the shaft seals. If they don't leak then don't worry about them. HTH

Don't forget the hidden bolt under the trim tab.

Make sure you mark what position your trim tab is in before removing it. Otherwise you'll be wondering why you can't track a straight line. Also that woodruff key can sometimes be a PITA to remove. A flat head screw driver and a few pops in one direction will usually make it pop out. If this doesn't work a dremel tool and cutting wheel may be needed. Dremel out the middle of the key to relieve pressure and it will come out.

Take your time. It's not a race and remember it's just like a puzzle? Lastly, ever thing else the other members have said.
