Default renewing captain's license

Any of you ever wait until the last moment to renew your license. Mine expired at the end of August 2013 I was told I had a one year lapse. If I submit my paperwork in person, second week of July after my drug screen and physical, will I make the extension deadline?

Call the Coast Guard and ask I would think you would be fine but wouldn't wait that long it's hell to get a new one.

Unless something has changed you have a year. I would get it in now. You can send it by mail but get a signature that they received it on time. If the physical is ok and your time is on there, you should be good to go. If there is a question about your sea time, you will have to take a shorter version of the test which is reason to get it in now.
