Default Red buoy west of East Pss

Does anyone know what the new red buoy west of the pass at Destin is for? What is that marking/indicating? It’s maybe 1/2 mile west about even with the end of the jetty.

We were out there today. Still seemed to be the green, red buoys for the channel out there and the red whistle buoy further out.
Is there an extra one you saw??

Yes. It’s further west than the channel by a fair bit (1/4-1/2 mile) and closer to the beach than the channel markers.

That buoy was washed over there from the channel during Hurricane Michael last fall. I guess the CG found it easier to drop a new one in the channel than to retrieve the displaced buoy.
