Default RE: Quick jigging question

A few weeks ago when we we're out I lost 4 or 5 jigs to the "TEETH" and was down to my last speed jig. Not wanting to lose it right away I rigged it with the coated 7 strand. I probably didn't get a few bites I should have, but I still caught allot of fish and didn't lose my jig till a shark tail whipped my line. After a while it does tend to get coiled, but I just replaced it. On the butterfly type it probably makes more of a difference but seems ok for the speed jigs. My .02

Thus another reason for longish leader material... If your biggest shark is 4 footers, a 6 is a minimum as they may roll the leader. 80 grit is hell on the main line and sampo or other ball/roller bearing swivels are costly! I usually go about 8' but I have used 10 or so. I just can't afford the $$$ for fluro when making 25 footers
