I've got a few of the new US senators. They have done very well for me. I've got them on the half hitch "charter special" rods. Excellent all around bottom combo and if they ever do break they are easy to have fixed locally.

I have some "guest" Ugly Sticks with 4/0 Senators and 60 lb mono. Catch plenty of fish.

For experienced guests, Penn Squall 60s with 80 lb braid.

Also have a few Shimano Speedmasters and spinning reels for general porpoise fishing.

The big trolling reels are for hard-core only.

The US Senator reels are well worth the extra price. They in no way resemble the old 113H 4/0 reels internally.

Thanks folks and yes I'm aware of the 9 miles. I just picked 12 as it's mainly where we stay within.
