If there is a thread already started, just delete this. Trying to find out the best place to anchor up? haven't been to the air show in years. wanting to stay on the inside.

The 2 main places that everyone anchors up is in little sabine, or behind flounders/boardwalk.
Without knowing how big your boat is, I'll give you my opinion. (Be advised this is based on a normal blue angels year, I have no idea what it'll be like this year) Sabine is where the party is at. Many people, many boats. The sandbar is quite shallow, so if your boat is bigger than a 28-30' center console you will need to anchor on the outside perimeter of the sandbar. Bring plenty of bumpers, sabine brings out the worst in boat "captains" so plan to play a little defense until you get enough boats anchored around you. Also it's not a bad idea to help the boats around you anchor up just so you know they won't break loose and you're fending off a boat if a thunderstorm pops up. Speaking of thunderstorms, there's only one way in and one way out of sabine. So if a storm does pop up (50% Saturday) you're pretty much screwed. Also, as I said.... this is where the party is at... if you're bringing kids, I'd say sabine is comparable to a New Orleand mardi gras.... so be prepared for the occasional titty to pop out. The other choice is behind flounders/boardwalk. This is where we've gone the last few years. Not as many boats, but still a good number. The deeper water allows for bigger boats, and it seems as though people give you more room to swing on the hook. You can also get out of there in a reasonable time if weather pops up. I like this much more now that I'm a bit older. No matter where you go, keep an eye out for swimmers/kayaks/paddle boards. They will be everywhere. Be mindful of the weather and stay safe. We'll probably be out there Saturday behind flounders. Sent from my Galaxy S4 using Forum Runner.

I have never done Sabine. Always did behind Flounders. Am I missing the party? How would Sabine compare to Billy Bowlegs in Ft Walton. Nobody brings their kids to Bowlegs

We always go behind Flounders, but we also usually have kids with us.

Sabine is PG or at least PG-13 compared to Bowlegs.
